The average age of the male Oscar winner is 43.9, while the average female Oscar winner is 36.2.
Just a curious statistic, with no real conclusion, other than our obvious preference as a society for youth.
This isn't necessary a bad thing if you're a fan of gender equality. Including the fact that female life expectancy is about 3-4 years longer than the average male, an Oscar-winning actress has about eight more years of being promoted as such than her male counterpart. I would be curious to know what effect the Oscar-winning tagline has on an actor or actresses future earnings potential.
