Tax season is upon us. We officially opened our extended hours this week / weekend, and have already successfully filed 64 tax returns. Nine have already been accepted.
In our client letter, we discussed potential tax changes in 2017 and 2018, but also changes to New York State's taxpayer identification system. New this year we will be required to report the following infromation from your driver's license on your tax return:
o Driver’s license or State ID number
o Document number
o Issue Date
o Expiration Date
We cannot e-file your return without this information, and e-filing is mandatory in the State of New York with very limited exceptions.
Below are two graphics on where to find the necessary information on your license. For this year it may be best to simply give us a copy of your ID, or make one here in the office.
